Monday kicked off with the reservoir fishing well with a rod average of 5.7. The method for the day was dries and nymphs, with dries taking the majority of the fish. On the boats David and Mark Prior had good sport landing 21 fish to the boat all on dry flies. They found the fish coming off Draycote Dam drifting towards A-B Buoy and over the Aerators. Also out on the boats using dries to catch 15 fish was season ticket holder Kevin Rees who landed 15 fish coming from Draycote wall towards B Buoy. Paul Cramp also had a good days sport using Crunchers to land 11 fish, from around the Aerators.
Tuesday the good sport with dries continued, with the bank anglers also cashing in on the good sport. Tony Broadway and Gordon Slack fished the North shore in Duns bay and the cornfield to land 7 fish a piece using big reds Tony also commented how he must have missed about 12 fish during the course of the day all coming up to the dries. Out on the boats John Dickens and Alex Urquhart had a great days sport on dries landing 31 fish to the boat using various dry fly patterns taking long drifts from Draycote Dam going across to A-B Buoy and then further into the middle of the lake. The best boat pairing came from K Coley and B Taff who landed 36 fish using muddlers pulled through the top of the water.
Wednesday saw changeable day weather wise with cloud giving way to bright sun. On the bank season ticket holder Dennis Jones landed 6 fish from the outlet and Duns Bay using a floating line with a small booby on the point with small diawl bachs on the droppers as Dennis found that the fish where right in the surface. Also out on the bank was Tony Broadway who again landed 7 fish from Biggin Bay again on dries. Mick Hanlon also had good sport for the last four hours landing 5 fish all on dries. Out on the boat Yousef Dar had an enjoyable days sport landing 17 fish using nymphs and dries Yousef found the fish along Draycote Dam wall and then drifting along Hensborough bank and then going out through the middle. Derek Edwards and Arthur Owen landed 25 fish to the boat all on dries with hoppers and daddies being the best patterns. Eugene Hughes took to a boat landing over 30 fish to the boat. Eugene found the fish on a number of different methods, either a floating line washing lining with nymphs, or on a Di 7 or Di 5 sweep using various lures, with the fish coming drifting from the Tower towards P Buoy.
Thursday was near perfect conditions with a light ripple and overcast skies all day, as a result the dry fly fishing especially from a boat was fantastic. Jude Tuffs had a good day from the bank landing 5 fish on dries John Dews also had a good day from the bank again landing 5 fish. Out on the boats Tony Kirk and Ruth Kirk landed 15 fish from the Aerators on a rabbit pearl booby. Season Ticket holder Jim Hall had a good day using CDC dries to land 10 fish, Jims top areas being the top Dam and the Aerators. Hugh Benham also used dries to land 12 fish with Carrot flies and Shipman’s being the top patterns. Stan Hillman enjoyed good sport on the bank taking 11 fish. Then having a red letter day on the boats was John Dickens and Kevin Rees who landed 55 fish to the boat using dries. They found the fish drifting from Duns bay along to Biggin. The pair fished various dries with crippled midge and emerger patterns really catching well. Another boat pairing having fantastic sport was season ticket holders Tony Plummer and Colin England who landed 24 fish from dries in the Aerators.
Conditions on Friday made the fishing more challenging than that of the previous day with strong Westerly winds and sunny conditions. Paul Beasley had a good day from the bank landing 6 fish on orange and brown buzzers fished on a floating line. The best catch from the boats saw Steven O’Hara, who was down with the McGregor’s on a three day break, land 12 fish using pinks snakes fished on a 3 inch per second sinking line around the Aerators. The McGregor party caught using snakes on sinking lines landing 29 fish between the four of them.
Conditions improved on Saturday with the winds dropping to give a good ripple on the water. The conditions first thing looked perfect with overcast skies. However this did then give way to more bright sunny weather. Out on the boats regular Ifor Jones had a fantastic day landing 24 fishing taking them from B buoy the Aerators and then through the middle of the lake. The McGregor’s again caught well again landing 29 fish using similar tactics as the day before. Mr Gunnell enjoyed good sport out in the boats landing 8 fish all coming to orange daddies and hoppers, while his boat partner Dave Lang landed 5 to the same flies. Mr Nataly landed 10 fish on Hog Daddies and gold ribbed hare ears. Mr Tappingden enjoyed good sport from the bank on bobs bits and diawl bachs landing 10 fish.
The conditions for Sunday where ideal at times with a light rippled, however, wind kept changing conditions which made presentation challenging. A number of anglers said while they caught well with the rod average of 4.4 the fishing was tricky with a number of fish coming short and just coming and swirling at the dries and not taking them confidently. The best catch came from the boat with Mr Pattinson and Mr Farrell catching 34 fish to the boat all taken on snakes in various colours in a 5 inch per second sinking line. Mr Booth and Mr Nixon enjoyed good day’s sports using dries to land 20 fish, with 12 of those being over 3lb. Kevin Rees also used small crippled midge pattern in the middle of the lake to land 11 fish. Finally Russ Jackson had a good day using buzzers from the boat to land 12 fish.

In order to maintain the accuracy of our records could all anglers please ensure that they fill in the catch return sheet before departure. If not in the lodge it will be found on the counter in the gutting room next door.
Boat anglers are also politely reminded of the ruling that there is no anchoring within 100 yards of any pontoon or aerators. This is especially relevant to the harbour pontoon as its own mooring chains & anchors extend out a considerable distance from the end of the harbour & are easily fouled.
Boat anglers may wish to note that we now have a rudder for hire at the daily rate of £7. It can be pre booked at the time you make your boat booking.

Bank Angler Car Park
Angler Car Park number 7 will remain partially closed while Severn Trent repair a footpath and will be using the car park to store stones for the repairs. Anglers wishing to fish in the areas below car park number 7 will have to park in either car parks 6 or 8 and walk to the area.
Selling of Fish
Anglers are not allowed to sell fish to members of the public on site.
Disabled Parking Bays
Anglers need to ensure that even for short periods whilst obtaining a fishing permit, they only use the disabled parking bays adjacent to the main car park, if they are the holder of a duly displayed “blue badge”.
Gutting Room
Please be aware that the Gutting Room refurbishment has now been completed. Much work has taken place & we would ask that you respect the facility and leave it in the same way in which you would wish to find it. Please also note that no fish are to be gutted after 20:30
Returns
Many anglers have been failing to book out at the end of their fishing. In order to maintain the accuracy of our records could all anglers please ensure that they fill in the catch return sheet before departure. Too many anglers have been failing to do this of late & this distorts the figures leading to potential fishery management issues.
Anchoring
Boat anglers are also politely reminded of the ruling that there is no anchoring within 100 yards of any pontoon, aerators or the Tower. This is especially relevant to the harbour pontoon as its own mooring chains & anchors extend out a considerable distance from the end of the harbour & are easily fouled.
Bank Anglers car passes should be, booked prior to coming fishing as we only have a limited number available. Some anglers came close to being disappointed this week when almost all of the available passes were used.
